The Temple of Artemis at Ephesus in Turkey is one of the most famous ancient monuments in the world. Located near the Aegean Sea, it was one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World and is believed to have been built around 550 BCE. It was an impressive feat of engineering that stood until it was destroyed by an arsonist in 356 BCE. The temple then lay in ruins until its remains were discovered in 1869.
